The Program: Students can participate in a 10-week summer research program under the direction of the Biochemistry and Biophysics faculty. Topics of research include:
- structural biology
- molecular genetics
Students will have weekly meetings, which allows them to explore research opportunities, discussing research ethics, and learn effective oral and written presentation skills. Financial support will include a stipend of $5500, in addition to living expenses on campus, and some assistance with travel expenses.
Eligibility: The program is open to undergraduate students majoring in biochemistry, chemistry, genetics, biology, or any life science. Preference will be given to candidates who have finished their third year and already taken organic chemistry and biochemistry courses. However, outstanding students who have completed their second year of college work will also be considered. NSF funds can be used only to support U.S. citizens and permanent residents. This program is committed to provide research opportunities for students from groups that are underrepresented in the sciences.
